Campaign Story

This project will give a chance to children who missed their grades or dropped out of school due to poverty resulting in parents failing to pay school fees. The children will be tutored though a community based study group through an accelerated learning model. The process involves identification of children from 8 years to 18years, pretesting, teaching, assessment for readiness and reintegration into main schools. The aim is to ensure that at least all children complete primary and secondary education.

Due to socio-economic challenges that have been affecting Zimbabwe for more than a decade now, most families have been hard hit by poverty. This has resulted in families failing to raise income to maintain or send their children to school. Since 2007 when the economic crisis was at its peak, many children have dropped out of school.. This has resulted in children lying idle and exposed to social ills like drug and substance abuse, early pregnancy, street begging and theft.

The project aims to be the bridge between the school and the community. Since the children cannot be directly enrolled into the mainstream schools, the project will provide accelerated learning through community study group. When children are ready to join the main schools, they will be reintegrated and their fees paid for. The project will ensure that children at least complete primary and secondary level education. Parents will be supported to raise income for further support of their children.
